Now that Robert Mugabe did not attend the SADC summit, President Thabo Mbeki and other leaders must put real pressure on him to step aside.

Now that Robert Mugabe did not attend the SADC summit, President Thabo Mbeki and other leaders must put real pressure on him to step aside.

It is never easy to counsel a colleague bent on keeping office, but it seems that is the only way Mugabe can serve his people, who for too long have seen their futures short-changed in the wake of fiscal instability and declining education, health and food supplies.

Hearty laughter comes easily to Zimbabweans, but that laughter needs more nourishment than Mugabe and his cronies have provided.
