The Deputy Minister of Safety and Security Susan Shabangu's order to the police to shoot and kill criminals reveals the government's frustration in dealing with crime.

Despite political parties' outrage over her remarks she has remained unrepentant.

We understand her frustrations.

But Shabangu must know that such irresponsible statements could lead to police-led lawlessness.

Our constitution enshrines the right to life.
