Grace Bible Church opened its new multimillion-rand youth and sport centres in Pimville, Soweto, on Saturday.
More than 4000 people gathered to witness the opening of the two buildings which marked the second phase of the church's development on the 13000 square metre site.
The event started with a service in the 5000-seat auditorium where congregants were entertained by Soweto Quadro and the Grace Bible Church music group.
"There is no telling what people can achieve if they pull together under God's guidance," said Pastor Musa Sono, senior pastor at the church.
The sports centre was opened by Pastor Ray McCauley of Rhema Bible Church. It consists of a gymnasium, a 2500-seat indoor sports arena, an amphitheatre, offices, canteen, chapel and a book shop.
Cutting the ribbon McCauley said: "I believe this church is going to make a great impact on our nation."
The children's centre was opened by Pastor Horisamu Mthembu of the Apostolic Faith Mission.
It contains a computer school, Internet cafe, creche, hall, and 14 classrooms.
The two structures cost R30million and the money came from congregants. Construction started in 2006.
"We want to give our youth an alternative to doing wrong things. We say they should concentrate on doing positive things. We hope the centre will play a part in their dreams," said Sono.
