False promise

Enough already. Once again a puffed-up politician has promised more than she can deliver - and then covered up her failures to produce.

Enough already. Once again a puffed-up politician has promised more than she can deliver - and then covered up her failures to produce.

Gauteng MEC for housing Nomvula Mokonyane announced a breathtaking plan to provide desperate people almost 900 houses within a month.

Surprise, surprise: she blew it. But she then had the effrontery to tell the legislature she had come up with the goods.

She promised the miracle New Zealand-designed prefabricated houses at Nomzamo, Soweto, and Kaalfontein, Ekhuruleni, last November for delivery in December.

When will our politicians learn that folks are angered more by unfulfilled promises than by no expectations at all?
