When the Absa Cup was launched, both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were knocked out in the early stages of the competition.

When the Absa Cup was launched, both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were knocked out in the early stages of the competition.

Their supporters came with excuses that it was intentional as both these teams have Standard Bank as their sponsor.

I think it is unwise of the individuals who keep on coming with such allegations.

In 2005 these teams met in the final of that competition and one of them emerged the winner.

What happened to the idea of boycotting the cup if it ever existed?

Now there is the Premiership League sponsored by the same bank. If the allegations are true then that implies both these teams will never win it.

If our teams are failing to achieve let us not harm the sponsorships. Rather focus on rebuilding our teams and educating us as supporters, to take our teams to another level.

Let us not come up with conspiracy theories that will harm the development of our football.
