Eight franchises will compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 competition which kicks off from April 18 to June in India.

Eight franchises will compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 competition which kicks off from April 18 to June in India.

The league is a franchise-based Twenty-20 competition that has the backing of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

It brings together the best players from all over the world who represent franchises not according to their nationalities but according to market forces.

The South Africans, who will be featuring six franchises in India, include Mark Boucher, Jacques Kallis, and Dale Steyn (Bangalore), Albie Morkel, Makhaya Ntini (Chennai), AB de Villiers (Delhi), Herschelle Gibbs (Hyderabad), Graeme Smith (Jaipur), Loots Bosman and Shaun Pollock (Mumbai).

All 59 matches will be televised live on SuperSport from day one to the final.- Sowetan
