The recent formation of an interim unified Limpopo full and semi-contact karate styles structure in Polokwane has been hailed as a great success.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Karate South Africa deputy president Isaac "African Tiger'' Mashinini said it was a mission accomplished for his organisation.

This after the KSA management committee was tasked to unite all provinces which did not have unity such as Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

"People were ready for changes and to take the process of unification forward as a united force.

"I wish to commend senior karateka from Limpopo for the efforts and dedication they have shown in the meeting and wished them good luck," said Mashinini.

"I hope the remaining provinces, including Gauteng and Mpumalanga, could take a leaf out of Limpopo," he added.

The meeting in Gauteng and Mpumalanga will be held soon.

The interim office-bearers elected at the weekend are: Michael Mothiba (president), Martin Bochnig and Esrom Mogano (deputy presidents),

Johannes Makhampanyane (secratary), Simon Motau (PRO), Alfred Moakamedi (treasurer),

Zeth Ntini, Piet van Rensburg, Danie Ludick and Tommy Heiland (all styles representatives).
