While SuperSport United's defeat by AmaZulu this weekend might have disappointed some, coach Gavin Hunt has taken the setback in his stride.
Hunt's team could have tightened their grip on their lead of the Absa Premiership title race, but by getting beaten by AmaZulu on Sunday, second-placed Ajax Cape Town and Santos might be sensing a weakening in the Tshwane club's resolve.
The two Cape Town outfits have been on the warpath. Ajax are coming from an auspicious weekend in Africa, returning with a 4-1 win over Rens of Seychelles, while Major David Bright's army have just crushed Black Leopards 4-0 in a league match.
Hunt is not overly concerned about this, putting his team's slip-up to a combination of unfavourable factors.
"I was not shocked at all - we were not playing well, we conceded two soft goals and also, we had a lengthy break, two weeks without competitive football. "This one affected us badly, although AmaZulu were obviously more determined than we were.
"We also had a legitimate penalty turned down, on top of missing two or three good chances."
The Matsatsantsa a Pitori coach reckons one cannot complain too much if he only loses one match in 11, regardless of where the race is.
Hunt believes the coming league match against Orlando Pirates will be as tough as any, but that the onus was on his players to prove whether they have it in them to take the challenge to the wire.
"Everything is in our hands, we just have to go out and fulfil our destiny," said Hunt.
