Birds-Ajax clash now on Sunday

Live television coverage has resulted in Moroka Swallows playing their Absa Premiership match against Ajax Cape Town at Germiston Stadium on Sunday at 5pm.

Live television coverage has resulted in Moroka Swallows playing their Absa Premiership match against Ajax Cape Town at Germiston Stadium on Sunday at 5pm.

It is unusual for the Dube Birds to host a game at such an awkward time, especially considering that there is no match around Gauteng on Saturday afternoon.

The only match around is between Orlando Pirates and log leaders SuperSport United at Johannesburg Stadium at 8pm.

What makes it even worse for Swallows is that there is a counter attraction match in Tshwane, where Kaizer Chiefs take on Mamelodi Sundowns at 3pm.

Public transport tends to be problematic for fans on a Sunday after events at the popular athletics venue around 7pm.

Swallows general manager Sipho Xulu said: "We are asked by the league to play at 5pm because of television coverage. But it is an eye-opener for us to scrutinise the new fixtures."
