A fascinating aspect of the Zimbabwe elections is that Zanu-PF uses many of the same arguments that the African National Congress uses here to justify their rule despite corruption and incompetence.

The DA is constantly told in parliament that we only sit there because the ANC liberated the country.

A representative of the MDC countered this line in Zimbabwe by saying that it was the people who liberated the country, and that this did not justify one-party rule forever.

The MDC also shoots down Robert Mugabe's land reforms by pointing out that only the politically connected elite have benefited.
