Ambitious Santos coach David Bright is eyeing the second spot on the Absa Premiership log and is optimistic his charges will soon be there provided neighbours Ajax Cape Town drop points.

The soft-spoken Bright was speaking to Sowetan after his side mauled Black Leopards 4-0 in a league encounter at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Friday night.

Santos' victory assured them third spot, while it seems only a miracle can save Leopards from being relegated at the end of the season.

Pressure is mounting onLeopards to win all their remaining league games.

Their coach, Sheperd Murape, is adamant that his side will still be in the Premiership League next season.

"Though we lost to Santos tonight, we have not lost hope and we will fight to avoid relegation.

"There are still games to be played and, let me assure our followers, the team will not be relegated," he said.

Bright, on the other hand, revealed that his team were continuing to play according to his game plan.

Santos' Thando Mngomeni saw his 25-metre curling free-kick hit the back for a 1-0 lead.

With the Leopards' defence at sixes and sevens, Eleazer Rogers scored from close range in the 35th minute.

Romano Scott's intended cross in the 63rd minute ended as a goal. Scott went on to score the final goal in the 65th minute for a 4-0 victory.
