Khotso Motau and Anthony van Niekerk are both on course for championship fights.
The two gladiators overcame obstructions on Wednesday night by whipping their dangerous international opponents in front of thrilled fans at Emperors Palace.
Motau outscored the dexterous Farayi Musiyiaa over eight rounds in the super middleweight division. But that decision was met by jeers from some fight fans, who felt that Musiyiaa, who scored with more cleaner punches, was a deserving winner or at worst their fight should be declared a draw.
Motau, a superior boxer skilfully and powerfully, seemed too eager for a knockout - something that he did with ease against 11 of his 12 victims - and that made him vulnerable to punishment.
However, the left-handed Sowetan, a former Olympian, who prefers to be called "Masterpiece", went on to register his second points win.
Motau, who has a single defeat, will oppose Tshepang Mohale for the vacant South African super middleweight belt sooner than expected. That strap was relinquished by William Gare last month after winning the WBF belt.
Meanwhile, a drama-filled light heavyweight fight between Van Niekerk and his tough-as-nails Brazilian opponent, Osmar Texeira, ended in the third round.
Van Niekerk rose from the dead to register his 12th short-route win.
A straight right that could have dropped a mule sent Van Niekerk tumbling to the canvas in the second round.
Superb conditioning by trainer Michael Schultz brought Van Niekerk back to life to be able to hold on for dear life and in the process lost a point for that.
But he fought back like a man possessed in the third round as he punished an already badly bleeding Texeira with a variety of well executed punches.
Texeira subsequently surrendered and suffered his 21st defeat against 38 wins (29 KOs), while Van Niekerk improved to 20 victories against five defeats and two draws.
Van Niekerk will challenge national lightweight champion Daniel Bruwer on May 31.
