A 30-year-old woman fled through an open window after she was held captive and raped her for three weeks in "a place I did not know [because] it was dark".

She said she was turned into a sex slave after responding to an invitation by her stepfather's friend to 'come to KwaZulu-Natal to get a job'.

The woman, with a degree, diplomas and certificates, yesterday said the man, whose identity is known to Sowetan, had promised her a government job. She said she had trusted him because he had often visited her stepfather.

"I called to let him know that I would be coming and he agreed," she said.

"He told me he would wait for me at the Montrose garage near the Kwazulu-Natal-Free State border. When I got there he was with another person. He was driving a black A3 Audi with an NUZ registration. In the car there were Z83 forms and one form was handed to me. We drove to a house at a place I did not know. It was dark."

She said the two men locked her in a room, left the house and when they came back with another man, they were drunk.

"The man I know started proposing love to me but I refused. He then took me to one of the bedrooms where he tore my T-shirt and started raping me. After he was done, the other two came and also raped me," she said.

The rape continued for three weeks.

"I was their sex slave. I was locked in a room and when they returned at the end of the day they took turns to rape me."

She said she managed to free herself on Sunday afternoon when one of the men left open a window.

"I escaped and followed some streets lights until I ended up at Montrose garage. I stayed there asking for food and money until a lady gave me food and R50."

The woman telephoned her family in Durban to fetch her from the garage where she was found in a state of shock.

She says her abductors have threatened to "find her and kill her" .
