Taxi thugs should reform

On Monday I read with dismay about the assault by a taxi driver on a passenger, Precious Tshishonga, because she "talked too much".

On Monday I read with dismay about the assault by a taxi driver on a passenger, Precious Tshishonga, because she "talked too much".

What have women done to deserve such treatment? What will it take for taxi drivers to start respecting their passengers and other motorists?

Are taxi drivers all over the world the same as ours in Mzansi? What a shame for our country.

On Tuesday morning a taxi cut in front of me without warning in Schubart Street, Pretoria, and I had to apply brakes to avoid hitting it, which scared my passengers.

I appeal to taxi drivers to stop treating us like rubbish because it is on the shoulders of women that the world rests.

Without women they would not have been born, so when they are tempted to treat them badly they should think of their own mothers, sisters, wives and daughters, whom they would want to protect at all cost.

Secondly, they should respect their passengers and remember that every time they have a full plate on their table it is because of them.

Thirdly, they do not own the roads. They should learn to share the roads peacefully with other road users.

Maybe if they concentrated on providing a professional service they would forget about treating others so badly!
