Nokukhanya Dlamini is one of the most talented, but underrated singers.

Dlamini, pictured, who has worked with some of the country's leading musicians, will perform at the Oude Meester East Comes Alive at the Birchwood Hotel, Boksburg, on Friday.

Dlamini is a versatile musician, having started her professional career with Family Factory and Joyous.

She has been a powerful vocal force, backing artists including Sibongile Khumalo, Kunle and Gloria Bosman.

She can sing straight-ahead jazz, Afro-jazz, traditional music and soul with ease. Those who know her vocal ability won't miss Friday's performance.

Working with various musicians before venturing into a solo career helped her find her own style.

Dlamini's solo career started in 2001 with Uyinkosi Yami, which earned her positive reviews. She took a five-year break searching for the right producer for her second album.

In 2005 she came back with Tribute To You, a beautiful Afro-jazz album. In it she worked with artists such as Andile Yenena, Zenzi Lee and Afrika Mkhize.

Dlamini will perform alongside Bhudaza Mapefane. For bookings, call 011-897-0024.
