A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly pouring methylated spirits and pepper into his girlfriend's genitalia after raping her at Ivory Park near Tembisa, Ekurhuleni.

Police said the boyfriend accused his 44-year-old live-in lover of cheating on Good Friday.

Police spokesman Lesiba Manamela said: "The accused was on his way to their house when he saw his girlfriend talking to a man nearby.

"After the man left, he called her into the house where he accused her of having an affair with the man."

He said the boyfriend threatened to kill the woman before raping her.

"He told her that he would kill her for cheating on him and then raped her.

"After the rape he forced her legs open and poured pepper and methylated spirits into her vagina."

The woman was treated at Tembisa Hospital.

"Though it took her five days to lay charges, it showed a lot of courage because she lives with her boyfriend."

The man has been charged with indecent assault, rape and domestic violence.
