The deputy director of agriculture in Sasolburg, Free State, is facing charges of drug dealing and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Mantombi Lydia Mbongo was arrested earlier this year. Her lawyer, MacDonald Marabo, said: "My client and her husband are about to divorce and he is doing everything he can to put my client in a bad light."
Mbongo appeared in the Sasolburg magistrate's court on Friday when her case was postponed. She is out on a warning.
