Limpopo Softball Association's log leaders Mahwelereng Spikes are expected to stretch their lead to 10 points when they play Kalkspruit Red Scorpions and Sebayeng Sharks at Scorpions' diamonds on Sunday.
Spikes will be heading to GaMashashane village boosted by the return of Simunye players -- Thabo Tawana, Thabang Letsoalo, Thunana Noko, Thabo Rapholo, Nakedi Mohlake and Thapelo Seshoka -- from Angola where they returned with gold from the Southern Africa Softball tournament recently.
The matches will start with a battle of the strugglers between Sharks and Scorpions followed by a mismatch between Sharks and Spikes. The final game will feature Scorpions and Spikes.
The Mahwelereng-based side is leading the log by four points ahead of second-placed Seleteng Giant Killers.
"There is no way we can allow the two sides to stand in our way of defending our championship. We'll go there to collect the six points and offer a free softball lesson to the two sides.
"The two sides have never beaten us since they were established and we do not expect any miracles," said Mogaba Tsebe, Spikes' spokesman yesterday.
Sharks, who only returned to the elite league this season, may kiss their elite status goodbye if they do not double their efforts.
