Two people died when two vehicles collided head-on at the intersection of Argyle and Florida road in Durban yesterday.

Derrick Banks, ER24 spokesman, said two others were injured.

"When emergency workers arrived on the scene, they found that three people from the one car had been injured and two of them in a critical condition.

"A male occupant suffered severe body injuries and was rushed off to hospital but shortly afterwards he was declared dead by a doctor," he said.

A woman believed to be in her 20s was injured in the head. Rescuers tried to stabilise her on the scene but they were unable to save her life.

Banks said the passenger of the same vehicle was rushed to Addington Hospital. She was later transferred to Life Entabeni Hospital, where she is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

"The driver of the other car was examined on the scene but said he would go to hospital in his private capacity," he said.
