SACP, ANC stalwart dies

South African Communist Party national deputy chairman and former Eastern Cape MEC for social development Ncumisa Kondlo has died after a long illness

Both the ANC and SACP announced Kondlo's death in East London yesterday.

Kondlo was elected to the ANC national executive committee and the national working committee at the ANC Polokwane conference last December .

"Ncumisa Kondlo was an outstanding cadre and highly regarded by her comrades and colleagues," said ANC spokesman Jessie Duarte..

Kondlo is survived by her son and three sisters.
