Mamelodi Sundowns believe their convincing 3-0 win over Curepipe Starlight of Mauritius at the weekend will serve as a morale-boost ahead of the return match in Mauritius next month.

Caretaker coach Trott Moloto said this after his charges whipped the Mauritians in the first leg first round encounter at Super Stadium on Saturday.

He said tactical changes in the second half largely contributed to their convincing victory after leading 1-0 at the half-time through Peter Ndlovu's goal in the 29th minute.

Other goals came from Surprise Moriri in the 52th minute and substitute Patrick Apataki, who came in for Moriri, in the 83rd minute.

Said an excited Moloto:" I am happy that we managed to win with such a big margin and it was good not to concede a goal at home.

" We are going to start our next round on a clean slate against Starlight in the return match in Mauritius in two weeks' time.

"We anticipate a tougher game against our opponents who will be backed by their supporters,'' said Moloto.

"But I have a lot of confidence in my boys who performed extremely well at the weekend.
