jazzy quadro for jozi
If you are into classical music the place to be next month is the University of Johannesburg.
They have already captivated Cape Town and now the Soweto Opera Quadro is preparing to jazz up Jozi.
Fresh from their triumph in the Mother City at the beginning of March, the four scintillating Soweto opera singers are heading for Johannesburg to perform their Brothers in Song show at the UJ Arts Centre from April 15 to 27.
The Soweto Opera Quadro comprises tenors Elliot Koena, Edward Mabunda and Bokang Sehau and baritone Xola Mpola.
To satisfy the public's increasingly voracious appetite for soothing music, the versatile singers lend their velvety voices to jazz, opera and Broadway standards as well as Afro-pop, traditional music and gospel.
Since its establishment in 2003 the vocal quartet has performed for VIPs such as President Thabo Mbeki and has been building a solid reputation for excellence around the country and abroad.
The Brothers in Song concerts promise to deliver a blend of music to suit all tastes.
Music lovers can expect to hear exquisite renditions of a diverse selection of tunes by the likes of Josh Groban, Il Divo, The Beatles, George Harrison, Verdi, Johannes Kerkorrel and Nianell.
The Quadro will be joined at the Johannesburg concerts by the gifted Loveline Madumo, a member of the Velvet Sopranos.
It will be the former Black Tie Ensemble member's first professional stage appearance since she narrowly escaped with her life from a horrific head-on vehicle collision.
