Edward Cuthbert Hogan would have turned 72 on Monday. Instead his children and relatives will bid him farewell on Saturday.
Hogan, who was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago, succumbed to the disease last Thursday.
A prolific dancer in his youth "Srezu", as he was popularly known, joined the African Dance Academy in the 1970s. He won a number of trophies. Tango was his speciality.
Hogan started his primary education in Moroka where he was born in March 1946. He then proceeded to Orlando High School.
Hogan worked for several companies in Johannesburg when he finished school.
He played for Moroka Terrors in the 1960s and was also a founder member of a boy band that recorded several singles.
Hogan is survived by two daughters, a son and seven grandchildren. His funeral service will be held on Saturday at the Orlando West Methodist Church from 9am. The cortege will proceed to Avalon Cemetery at 11am.
