Taxi drivers will never learn

I find it strange that Sicelo Mabaso from the Top 6 Association believes that it is possible to rehabilitate taxi drivers.

I find it strange that Sicelo Mabaso from the Top 6 Association believes that it is possible to rehabilitate taxi drivers.

I say this after witnessing their reaction when the women marched against the unruly behaviour of taxi drivers.

They showed no remorse for what their colleagues did to that innocent woman. To have turned their backs on the demonstrators shows that they believe that their actions were justified.

I second the provincial government's plan to close the rank if the perpetrators are not pointed out and exposed.

It is unfortunate that the taxi owners will feel the pinch, but the message will be clear that people do not support such foolish, chauvinistic behaviour.

These people are brutes and no amount of rehabilitation will help them. We witness their abusive behaviour, which includes swearing, rudeness, reckless driving and making us victims when they fight among themselves, all the time.

Close the rank and provide commuters with alternative transport under police supervision, as was the case when the Faraday taxis were prevented from operating because of their in-house violence. Then maybe they will get the message.
