Budding singer Nhlanhla Mwelase says joining the famous contemporary gospel group Joyous Celebration is a dream come true.

Mwelase, 25, of KwaThema, Springs, who has just joined the group, says he has been waiting patiently for his turn and it has finally happened.

"It's an exciting feeling and dream come true to work with people like Nkanyiso Bhengu," he says.

Mwelase says in the three months he has spent with the group he has learnt two crucial values - discipline and respect.

His career began at an early age in church. He says he always knew that he belonged to this creative industry.

"I sang in the church and learnt to use most of the instruments there. I also joined a choral group in KwaThema where I learnt notation."

After realising that he had talent, he entered many competitions. In 2003 he tried his luck in the Coca-Cola Pop Stars but he wasn't selected. He tried his luck at the M-Net Idols competition and was voted out in the top 5.

Joyous Celebration has produced artists such as Ernie Smith, Swazi Dlamini, Margaret Montage, Vicky Vilakazi, Nokukhanya Dlamini, Concord Nkabinde, Brian Makiwane, Sizwe Ngema, Gift Vilakazi, Siyabulela Mkefa, Innocent Modiba, Maduvha Madima, Sabatha Masoka, Tshepo Mngoma, Thaboand Nonhlanhla Mdluli, Keke, Redeemed, Sechaba and Ntokozo Mbambo.
