Lamontville Golden Arrows, who were booted out of the last-32 stage of the Nedbank Cup, will now concentrate on consolidating their position in the Absa Premiership.

Coach Manqoba Mnqithi said though he was hurt by the loss, they will now concentrate on the league.

"We wanted to go further but it was not going to be. But at the same time, I am pleased that this will give us an opportunity to focus mainly on consolidating our position on the log," said Mnqithi.

Jomo Cosmos beat Arrows 1-0 on a slippery King Zwelithini Stadium pitch in Umlazi on Saturday afternoon via striker Nkosinathi Nhleko.

He capitalised on a lack of communication between Arrows goalkeeper Miphy Lupini and defender Siyabonga Sangweni, resulting in their failure to deal with a cross by Bongi Macala on 43 minutes that found Nhleko lurking inside the box.

Before the goal Nhleko had missed three easy scoring opportunities that even a six-year-old could have scored, resulting in coach Jomo Sono insinuating that there must be muti sprinkled in Arrows' goals.

Nhleko showed his bluntness as early as the 11th minute, when Reneilwe Letsholonyane found him unmarked with an excellent ball, but his first touch let him down. He was back in the picture again in the 27th minute when he volleyed straight at the hands of Lupini.

As if that was not enough, he missed a sitter when he failed to push the ball into an empty net from a cross by Bamuza Sono.

On the other hand, Abafana Bes'thende were denied by the in-form Avril Phali in Ezenkosi's goals. He made daring saves from Musa Bilankulu, Moricio Pequenino, Abia Nale and Kagiso Senamela. Also the injury to captain, Kagiso Dikgacoi in the first half did not do them any good.
