McKnight lights fires of romance for music lovers

Edward Tsumele

The Dome on Friday came alive when lovers descended on it to enjoy the romantic music of US R&B exponent Brian McKnight.

The American star did not disappoint when he took to the stage after a good performance by local R&B heart-throb Loyiso Bala. As soon as McKnight went on stage, he fascinated the appreciative audience as he belted out one hit after another, including cover versions of the late Luther Vandross. The mainly female fans who turned up for the first South African leg of his tour had a ball. In between songs there were only a few dull moments, but the singer was able to recapture magical moments time and time again.

He also performed with his two teenage sons, who were greeted by the uncontrolled screams of female fans. In fact, they screamed even before the two boys had opened their mouths.

Such was the sheer entertainment provided by McKnight that when he called it quits just before midnight everybody filed out of the Dome satisfied.
