The Safa-Metropolitan LFA League takes its roadshow to Kimberley and Thohoyandou this weekend where teams from the two regions get their chance to face off for a place in the national championships of the 2007-08 season.

Some 52 regions, consisting of 314 districts, have registered for the league, which is structured in four phases. Phase one sees the team that wins the LFA league qualifying for the Third Division League.

In Phase Two, Safa regional or provincial coaches select the best under-19 squad to represent the region in phase three, which is the inter-regional playoffs. At the playoffs, Safa coaches select the provincial squad that will represent the province in phase four, the inter-provincial playoffs.

Mandla Mvelase, general manager: group marketing and corporate affairs at Metropolitan Holdings Limited, said the financial services group is proud of its involvement in the development of local football.

The quest for regional supremacy in Northern Cape will be held at the Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley on Sunday.

Two coaching clinics will be conducted in the area: today at Galeshewe Stadium between 3 and 5pm, and tomorrow at Mataleng, Barkly West from 9am to midday.

Then on Sunday, Black Panthers of Kimberley take on Junior Tigers from Pampierstad at 9am, followed at 11am by Happy Stars from Warrenton and Windsorlettes, representing Windsorton in Barkly West. At the same time in Venda, Thohoyandou will host the battle for domination in Limpopo. - Sello Rabothata
