revenge fuels buccaneers
Revenge is upper most in the minds of Orlando Pirates who meet Santos in the last-32 stage of the Nedbank Cup at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon.
Bucs, who suffered a 2-1 drubbing from the People's Team in a league game recently, are hopping mad and have vowed to win this encounter.
Although Santos have been doing well lately, after going six league games without defeat, their form does not worry Pirates whose focus is on the cup. Bucs' official, Floyd Mbhele believes of a Pirates win.
He said although they have not had any successes in cup games he firmly believes that they will have to go for broke in this one.
"The spirit is high among the players and they know what it is expected of them. They have concluded that missing gilt-edged opportunities will be a thing of the past and vowed to bury Santos under an avalanche of goals.
Santos have been playing well in league matches and their most recent result is a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns away which speaks volumes. Santos team manager Yusuf Gester said they were expecting a fierce fight.
"We know how they play and won't change our approach. We will use more or less the same players and adopt a similar style in combating what they do. if they try to come up with something different for this match, I can assure you that we will be ready for them."
Eleazar Rodgers and Bennet Chenne will want to steal the limelight.
