Former World Cup 2010 local organising committee communications manager Tumi Makgabo has added another feather to her cap.

She has joined the list of Young Global Leaders 2008.

The World Economic Forum yesterday recognised and the former CNN anchor as one of the top 200 to 300 young leaders from around the world.

This honour is bestowed on individuals for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.

Makgabo was selected from a pool of 5000 candidates around the world. The announcement was made in Switzerland yesterday.

Makgabo has been a broadcaster for more than a decade, both in South Africa and for CNN International.

She launched her own media company on her return to South Africa in 2006 and produced Talk with Tumi Makgabo for M-Net.

In the same year, she was appointed communications manager for the 2010 Fifa World Cup local organising committee.

She resigned from the position last month.
