African Warriors have declared war on Moroka Swallows, whom they meet in a Nedbank Cup last-32 game at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday night (8pm kickoff).

It will be a tricky encounter for the Birds who meet an unknown Warriors side who are doing duty in the National First Division.

Warriors have vowed to bring the Birds down to mother earth on the night and advance to the next round of the prestigious competition.

"They may be playing top flight football but they don't scare us. We have a balanced side all round and we're ready to roast them alive," said Warriors' spokesman Lerato "Tso" Mokaeane.

Swallows' general manager Sipho Xulu said they needed to be cautious against Warriors, who are a closed book to them.

"Looking at their track record, they're a good team and we'll be taking the field as underdogs.

"Seeing that the league championship is now out of our reach, we're going to put everything into this game and go for broke," he said.

Mokaeane said that playing at home before their vociferous fans and meeting the Birds at night was to their advantage.

He added that they also had quality players in their fold, some of whom had played in the elite league, such as Thiyekile "Ace" Gulwa, Abram Nteo and Fees Moloi.

He said others who may be a menace to their opponents include captain Mohlolo Nhlapo, Malefetsane "Stito" Rankati and the exciting Malefetsane Mokoena.

However, Swallows players such as Lefa Tsutsulupa, Goodman Mazibuko, Evans Gwekerere, James Chamanga and Thulani Ngcepe should outfox their opponents.
