Trial dates for two men who allegedly helped cover up an alleged drunk driving incident involving Ekurhuleni Metro police chief Robert McBride were set in the Pretoria magistrate's court yesterday.

A case of fraud and defeating the ends of justice against Joseph Morolong Moratioa, a doctor, was set for trial from July 22 to July 24. A separate case against former Metro police officer Hendrik Rudolph Ernest Degenaar was set for August 5 to August 7. In the meantime the state is to furnish further particulars, which include two outstanding statements.

Moratioa is accused of defrauding the state and police by pretending that he had examined McBride as a patient on December 21 2006. - Sapa
