Some of South Africa's top runners are expected to take part in the Orange Farm Half-Marathon on Sunday morning.

Besides the half-marathon, there will also be a 10km road race and 5km fun run to make it an all-inclusive family affair.

James "Maradona" Shabangu, Orange Farm Sports Council chairman, said Nike and Central Gauteng Athletics were partners in the event.

"We have been staging this event for the past five years and it has been growing in leaps and bounds. We expect an even more successful sixth edition on Sunday," Shabangu said.

"The support from the communities has been unbelievable. Everybody is working hard to make it one of the best, not only in Gauteng but the entire South Africa.

"We have had big names like Fusi Nhlapo, Andrew Kelehe, Joseph Ikaneng, Norman Dlomo, George Mofokeng and Jeffrey Gwebu supporting us in the past."

Shabangu said the main race will start at 7am at Orange Farm Chris Hani Sports Complex.

Registration is R40 for the main event, R20 for the 10km road race and R10 fun run.

Registration forms are available at the sports complex. Shabangu said they will also accept forms from 5.30am on the day of the race.
