Bafana Bafana staged a second half onslaught when they beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in an exciting international friendly game at Germiston Stadium last night.

The South African side was on the offensive from the opening whistle and frequently raided their opponents goalmouth with exciting moves. But their strikers missed numerous chances that came their way through inaccurate shooting or tame shots.

The Zimbabwe Warriors quickly found their rhythm and started to match the home side pound for pound and they eventually took the lead in the 10th minute through Gilbert Mushangazhike.

This after the Orlando Pirates striker gave the home side's goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune no chance with a powerful low shot.

After this goal, the Warriors mounted pressure as they gave the home side's defence a torrid time with dangerous moves.

Minutes before half time striker Sithembiso Ngcobo almost levelled matters in the 43rd minute but his superb header was palmed away by Energy Murambaboro, Zimbabwe's goalkeeper.

South Africa made two substitutions in the second half when they replaced Siphiwe Tshabalala and Brett Evans with Bennett Chenene and Innocent Mdledle respectively.

The SA side equalised in the 74th minute after the Zimbabwean keeper Murambaboro fisted a Chenene shot which found the unmarked Ngcobo who slotted home. Ngcobo who made his debut, completed his brace to make the final score 2-1 in the 90th minute.
