Pacesetters Ajax Cape Town served notice on Friday night that they intend winning the Absa Premiership title and the R10 million prize that goes with doing so.

This follows their hard-earned 1-0 victory over Bidvest Wits in a second round encounter at Milpark Stadium.

The Urban Warriors proved their supremacy over the Clever Boys once more after beating them 5-2 in the first round in Cape Town.

Ajax assistant coach Wilfred "Silver Fox'' Mugeyi praised his charges for collecting three points from Wits after their second successive match in Gauteng. He felt their 2-3 defeat at the hands of SuperSport United in midweek in Tshwane was a wake-up call.

"Today (Friday) was a game of missed chances from both sides and the game should have gone either way.

"I am chuffed that Lady Luck smiled on our side towards the end of the game, thanks to Wits scoring an own goal. The game had seemed like it would end in a goalless stalemate,'' said Mugeyi.

He also believes their main ambition of collecting the whopping R10 million first prize is still on track.

A dejected Wits coach Roger de Sa said his side needed a little bit of luck to wrap-up the game after failing to convert easy chances. He defended his player Wilson Shendzelani who put the ball into his own net in the 85th minute.
