After impressive performances in their past four games, Santos are hoping to maintain the form that has made people sit up and take notice.

Yusuf Gester, manager of The People's Team, is optimistic that the side will finish in the top four when the league ends.

He was speaking ahead of their game against Lamontville Golden Arrows, whom they host in the Absa Premiership encounter at the Athlone Stadium tomorrow night. Kickoff is at 8.

"The guys are playing well and they follow instructions. They make use of the opportunities and have been playing together for a while," said Gester.

He added that the youth policy they embarked on has been their priority, and they are delighted to see the plan coming together and paying off.

Santos are on fire and their players are working hard to see that the side wins most of their remaining matches.

Most of them are dedicated and committed to the side, and every player is fighting for a place in the first team.

This doesn't bode well for Arrows, who will have to contend with players who are the backbone of the Santos side, like Erwin Isaacs, Eleazar Rodgers, Mogogi Gabonamong and Thembile Kanono.

Arrows' spokesman Zwelethu Mzolo said they lost 2-1 to Sundowns because they started to get into the game very late.

"It was our first defeat since the league resumes. Our psychologist is working on the players' mental strength and we hope they will play much better this time."

Players such as Papi Zothwane, Thokozane Mshengu, Abia Nale and Thabiso Kgopane are likely to carry their side's hopes of victory.
