An enthralling midfield battle is in the offing when AmaZulu and Jomo Cosmos meet in an Absa Premiership match at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Sunday at 3.30pm.

The match could be won or lost in this department depending on the tactics of the coaches on the day.

Usuthu coach Clive "The Dog" Barker could opt for a 3-5-2 system which he used when they beat Thanda Royal Zulu 2-1 on Wednesday.

He is likely to add right-back Jan Sillo to the midfield to assist the likes of the impressive Bafo Biyela and the commanding John "Shoes" Moshoeu.

Nhlanhla "Shakes" Zwane and Thabo Mabaso could also form part of the midfield party.

AmaZulu striker Siyabonga Mkhwanazi, who scored a brace against Royal Zulu, should start and is likely to be partnered by Mpho "Zico" Maleka or Dumisani Mkhwanazi.

Ezenkosi owner-coach Jomo Sono is likely to go for a 4-4-2 approach and the trickery of the attacking midfielder Dikgang Mabalane could prove a handful for the hosts who are still in seventh heaven after two consecutive wins.

Nkosinathi Nhleko should use his international experience to his advantage and score goals that will help Cosmos to lift the gloom that is hanging over them.

Ezenkosi go into this match knowing full well what a defeat will do to their fierce battle against relegation.

In fact, Cosmos will have to win all nine of their remaining matches.

l AmaZulu will hold a supporters' card promotion at Dunns Store in West Street, Durban, tomorrow and the players will be part of the proceedings that start at 11am.
