save our soccer

We are all entitled to our opinions but nothing and no one will change mine about the state and standard of our football today because it's a joke.

We are all entitled to our opinions but nothing and no one will change mine about the state and standard of our football today because it's a joke.

We have these armchair "professors" of football such as Neil Tovey, who didn't know his way around a football field because he was an average player.

And now he and others such as Gavin Hunt, another former below- average player, want to tell others how to do it.

There are so many PSL coaches who get fired and then find other clubs so easily. They take their failed football philosophy with them and lead our football and coaching on a merry-go-round or musical chairs game. As a result our football will never improve.

Now Trott Moloto, who failed misserably at Maritzburg United and who has achieved nothing to talk about as a coach, is mentor of the overrated Mamelodi Sundowns.

I have always maintained that the wrong people are in charge of our football and it's going nowhere fast. Until we stop the braskap in our football it will continue to do so.

There are others such as Doctor Khumalo, who thinks he was the only one who played football.

These ex-players won't come anywhere near the likes of Percy Moloi, Lucas Moripe, Johnny Mokoena, Vincent Julius, Vusi Lamola, Daniel Radebe, Bernard Hartze and Rashid Kahn yet go on as if football in this country only started in 1996.

Former greats are still around and need to get involved in our football at grassroots level to produce better quality players for the future.

The present PSL players are a hopeless bunch just shaming this potentially top football nation.

With the right financial backing my interest lies in coaching the youth, along with our former greats, to save our soccer.

Smiley Moosa,

Ex-Sundowns and Westham (England)
