Lectures and tests at Mangosuthu University of Technology in Umlazi were disrupted when lecturers and students were fire-hosed inside lecture halls by other protesting students.

They were fire-hosed by students who were demanding that management deploy more lecturers.

The disruption was allegedly spearheaded by the Student Representative Council (SRC).

This is the third institution in KwaZulu-Natal to embark on protest action this year.

SRC spokesman, Brian Masondo, said some faculties like Accounting had not had lecturers for since the beginning of the year. - Sne Masuku
