"At about 11.30pm on Saturday there was a quarrel between the two of them. After that he assaulted her with a sjambok," said police spokesman Constable Debra Bob. "We received a call from a worker on the ranch yesterday morning." .
The man was a worker on the ranch and lived with his partner in a shack about 20 to 30 metres from the farmhouse, said Bob.
"We have opened a murder case and are still looking for the suspect," she said.
Police had not been able to establish the age of the victim and were contacting her family to inform them of her death. - Sapa
