Popular Limpopo radio DJ Eddy Crook, also known as DJ Ditaba, watched his former girlfriend, Monique Leone, chatting to award- winning musician Moocah Mokgalaka on Saturday night.

He slipped away on what he thought was a silent, vengeful mission, but was caught in the act of puncturing Mokgalaka's car tyres, according to eye-witnesses.

He was caught red-handed by Leone and Mokgalaka and then assaulted, kicked and slapped by Leone.

This drama unfolded at the Impala Park Stadium in Phalaborwa during the Marula Arts Festival.

Crook was one of the programme directors. He took quite a beating, sustaining serious facial injuries, and wasn't seen on stage after the fracas.

His version of the story is that he could not stand seeing his ex-girlfriend talking to another man.

"I sent a message to Moocah telling him how I felt about the girl but I was amazed when Monique came on to the stage and demanded that I explain the message to her.

"She started kicking me in the back but I did nothing," said Crook yesterday.

Other bystanders say he was trying to remove the car's wheels .
