Sabata Khumalo, chairman of Schools Athletics in Gauteng, said sparks are bound to fly when athletes from 15 districts battle it out in the semifinals and finals of the championships.
"It is going to be a do or die situation for the athletes tomorrow [today] because two top winners in each category will be selected for the provincial squad that will compete at the national championships," said Khumalo.
The national finals are scheduled for Bellville in Cape Town from March 27 to 29. - Mesh Khotha
