Firstly, AfriForum, now a quasi-political party, opposes all the government's transformation efforts. They oppose name changes, affirmative action, transformation in sports and basically everything that is done to redress the imbalances and the inequalities of the past.
Apartheid turned South Africa into a European outpost. There are very few qualified black engineers, accountants or other professionals.
Secondly, Solidarity opposes affirmative action in a country where blacks were never given any opportunities.Andthis in a country where more than 80percent of the population is African.
For the African child there must be visible change post 1994. The government will be failing the African child if it succumbs to racist pressure. Government must accelerate transformation to emancipate Africans from debilitating poverty 14 years after the new dispensation. In 2009, Africans and progressive whites must punish AfriForum and Solidarity for still promoting black oppression.
