Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka, Amajita coach, plans to meet the South African Football Association to ask them to allow him to watch the preliminaries of next year's African Youth Championships.
The South African Under-20 national side has been drawn against the winner between Reunion and Mozambique.
Reunion and Mozambique clash in the preliminaries, with the first leg match taking place on the weekend of May 2.
The winner will test their strength against Amajita on the weekend of June 27. South Africa will be at home in the first leg.
The winner of that match will take on the winner between Gabon, Namibia and Botswana in the second round for a place in the finals.
"We have already started with the preparations. The plan is to have a training camp next week as part of the preparations," said Letsoaka.
"The good thing is that we have the majority of youngsters that I used to work with when I was still in charge of the Under-17 national team.
"Reunion and Mozambique are a closed book to us, that is why it is important for me to watch both the first and second leg matches featuring the two countries.
"I would ask Safa to allow me to watch the first one, but my experience is that these countries tend to change the whole team completely, especially if they lost in the first leg.
"It is important for us to qualify for the finals in Rwanda next year," said Letsoaka.
Some of the youngsters developed by Letsoaka from Majimbos include Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Thulani Serero, Dylon Claasen, Thulani Ngcepe and Kermit Erasmus.
Amajita are still to make a serious impact on the continent since winning a silver medal in Casablanca in 1996 after losing 1-0 to Morocco in the final. With Shakes Mashaba in charge at that time, it was also South Africa's last appearance at the World Youth Championships.
