Fidel Castro did a lot to uplift his people

In his 49 years as Cuba's president, Fidel Castro was not that bad. There was a positive side to his communism. His government built many schools, virtually erased illiteracy and built an excellent healthcare system.

Cubans have a higher life expectancy than South Africans. Here, only people who can afford private healthcare and private schools prosper. Fair and just health and education systems will eliminate the rich-poor gap. Castro might have violated human rights, but his positive contribution outweighs his negative. Not all dictators are bad and nobody is perfect.
