A show for fashionistas

I am not into high fashion, preferring to buy some of my clothes from either a non-glamour street designer or scouring fleamarkets for that "unique" outfit.

But before you laugh at me, just wait for a moment. The clothes you get from these fleamarkets are always classy and actually top of the range in their own right. The only thing though is that they were once worn by someone else who might be dead.

If you do not believe in the wrath of the dead, however, the idea of visiting flea markets for these outfits is an art itself. And the good thing is you can get a bargain for something really good and at a reasonable price.

The fashion thoughts flooded my mind this week when I received a press release that says that if you are into class you need to have your credit card ready this week for really high fashion.

A show called The International Fashion Sale (IFS) promises to bring top brands under one roof this week. The IFS is now in its 12th successful year, they say.

"IFS is a fashion experience that has to be seen to be believed, unlike a mall and more like an exciting festival of shopping. Bargain hunters and fashionistas all mark their dairies for this bi-annual event," the press release says.

Well, if you are into fashion, you probably need to go to this one, if word from the PR people can be taken at face value.

There are also prizes to be won, and some of the money raised will go to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.

The IFS will take place at Gallagher Estate in Midrand from February 28 to March 2 from 10am to 10pm daily.
