SA to host the world
World Leadership Day is to be celebrated in South Africa for the first time. in the country.
After the inaugural event in Sydney, Australia, on March 20 last year, South Africa will host Australia, Canada, Britain, France, Germany and Singapore who will participate in the second annual World Leadership Day on March 20.
Founded by Australasian Elisabeth Gortschacher, the aim of World Leadership Day (WLD) is to raise awareness and inspire a new way of discovering and developing leadership for the 21st century and beyond.
WLD is set to be an annual, growing, international event to inspire, connect, transform leadership thinking and development across the globe, as well as to inspire processes worldwide that recognise, engage and nurture innate leadership potential and leadership skills development in every person.
The driver of World Leadership Day in South Africa is Gerda Venter, managing director of Sakura Coaching, a South African business coaching company with international links.
On her vision for World Leadership Day South Africa, Venter says: "It is to create a platform for leaders that make a difference in our society and contribute to empowerment.
"By connecting leaders from various levels, opportunities are created for collaboration and skills transfer."
The following initiatives will form South Africa's contribution to World Leadership Day 2008:
A total of between 60 and 100 people, comprising prominent leaders from various industries and youth leaders, will share a collective leadership platform.
Companies, organisations and individuals will also be invited to participate.
