Lions out to rip Force apart

Lions coach Eugene "Loffie" Eloff says his team will start on a clean slate when they host Western Force in a Super 14 encounter at Ellis Park Stadium on Friday at 6.30 pm.

This after the Doornfontein outfit were humiliated 55-10 by the Blues at home last weekend.

Eloff agreed that his team's defence let them down against the Blues.

"We have corrected that mistake. I am optimistic that it will be a different game when we take the field on Friday night," said Eloff.

"Last weekend's defeat is history.

"We are raring to appease our supporters at the expense of the visitors, come Friday.''

Good news for Lions supporters is the return of flanker and captain Ernst Joubert from a two-week injury lay-off.

"It is good to be back. I feel fit and ready to steer the team to our second win of the season on the night,'' said a confident Joubert after a training session at Johannesburg Stadium yesterday.

Eloff has made a tactical change by bringing in Willem Stoltz for Anthony van Zyl.

He added that centre Jaco Pretorius might be out with a hamstring injury but it would only be confirmed tomorrow

The Force is expected to score their second successive win in South Africa after claiming the scalp of the Cheetahs with a close 16-15 victory in Durban last Saturday.
