Marumo has joined Alexandria-based side, Haras El Hodood on a three-year-contract.
Marumo impressed his new club during Botswana's qualifiers for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
In Gaborone, Marumo's heroic performance saw Botswana hold Egypt to a goalless draw.
While in Cairo Egypt only managed a 1-0 win with the 29-year-old Marumo denying the Pharoah's several chances in a game that they dominated.
Marumo's coach at Botswana Defence XI, Stan Tshosane, said the goalkeeper's departure for a bigger club was long overdue and expressed optimism that he would excel.
"He is one of the best goalkeepers in Africa and should have secured a professional contract long ago," Tshosane told BBC Sport.
"It was unfortunate for him because as an army officer his job was demanding and had little time for football. He is also one of the most disciplined players I have worked with."
Tshosane added that Egypt is a good destination for Marumo because the league is one of the most competitive on the continent.
