So the mayor of Mafikeng thinks there is nothing wrong with nepotism (as reported in Sowetan of February 20). Mosa Sejosengoe revealed that more than 60 employees in the municipality were related.

I do have a serious problem with this malpractice in the sense that given the level of poverty stricken families in the country other people who do not have relatives in high places should be given an opportunity to get these jobs.

Then how do I go out there and convince the outside world that our government is addressing the problem of poverty and joblessness.

These are selfish power hungry politicians who use the holy word democracy for their own individual benefit at the expense of the poor masses promising them heavens and earth.

To see their neighbours living below the breadline is their greatest ambition" I tend to believe that it is typical in our urban African culture for this to happen. The spirit of the so called ubuntu exists only in theory.
